Reverend Fred L. Sullivan, II, M.Div.
Pastor
Reverend Fred L. Sullivan, II is a Minister ordained and excited to preach the Gospel of Jesus. He is a Christ follower, a devoted husband, a loving father, a brother, a friend, a student, and a teacher. Presently, Reverend Sullivan serves the Bethlehem Baptist Church as its Pastor, and also leads an office and industrial commercial real estate practice. After more than 20 years in the corporate arena serving investors and occupiers of real estate, and serving in various capacities in lay leadership within his local church, Reverend Sullivan perceived a call to Pastoral ministry and has since worked passionately to live into the invitation God offered to be obedient. He is excited about articulating his faith in a way that shows our beliefs and our actions in the world should be aligned--faith isn’t just an is, faith does.
As Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, an historic church that has ministered to the community for nearly 110 years, Reverend Sullivan is both excited and grateful to join a long line of servants who have preached and taught at Bethlehem. Further, he looks forward to what God has in store for Pastor and People as we journey together and do the work of God's ministry in the world. Together, Pastor and People stand assuredly on Matthew 22:37-40 where Jesus explains the greatest two commandments; namely to love God with our whole being and love others as we love ourselves.
Reverend Sullivan was born the oldest of two sons born to the Late Deacon Fred L. Sullivan, and the Late Deaconness Edna Sullivan, lifelong servants and educators in the City of Paterson, NJ. Fred and Edna raised Fred, II and Kenneth, himself a Pastor, to know God, to follow Jesus, and to be guided by the Spirit. Rev. Sullivan has also followed his parent’s path into education as an Adjunct Professor teaching courses in Religion, and Ethics at Berkeley College.
A graduate of Drew Theological School, New York University, and Morehouse College, Reverend Sullivan is a lifelong learner. At Morehouse he was introduced to former Alonda Nutter, the love of his life, through a mutual friend. Alonda and Fred have been blessed to be married for nearly 17 years and are the parents of a darling little girl, Pierce.
